Massage Therapy
Massage therapy is a form of manual manipulation of the soft tissue (muscles, ligaments, tendons, fascia). It aims to promote pain-free function of the body by releasing tissue tension and re-orienting holding patterns. Massage primarily works with the nervous system to facilitate the body’s self-healing ability; and because of this it has an immense capacity to support a wide variety of conditions such as anxiety, depression and chronic pain. This modality is also an exceptional rehabilitation tool for healing from surgeries and injuries (including scar tissue).
At Blue Lotus, our focus is to support you on your journey to reaching an optimal state of well-being!
Acupuncture
What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a form of Traditional Chinese Medicine used to promote healing and harmony
in the body by restoring and balancing the flow of Qi, our vital life force. It involves the
insertion of very fine, single-use needles into specific points on the body, which allows for
free flow of Qi through the meridians of the body. In TCM, it is believed that illness is a result
of blockage or imbalances in the flow of blood and Qi. From a modern perspective,
acupuncture activates the parasympathetic nervous system which is responsible for promoting
relaxation, regulating the body’s “rest and digest” functions and encouraging healing. It also
increases blood flow, which leads to better delivery of oxygen and nutrients throughout the
body.
It is used to treat a variety of conditions, including but not limited to digestive complaints,
hormonal disturbances, fertility issues, emotional regulation, and alleviating pain. Acupuncture
is also an incredible tool to promote overall wellness.
